San Marcos Thriving Under the Leadership of Mayor Rebecca Jones

Recently, San Marcos was recognized as the best suburb in San Diego County to raise a family. San Marcos earned their honorary title from GoBanking Rates, which is a personal finance advisory and managing tool.

GoBanking Rates finds the best suburban towns in major cities in every state with a thorough study and observation compiled using multiple factors. These include the median home list and monthly rent (analyzed from Zillow’s May 2019 index), annual cost of groceries, healthcare, utilities and transportation (analyzed from Bureau of Labor Statistics’ 2017-18 Consumer Expenditure Survey), the quality of the school districts (analyzed from Niche), and the violent and property crime rate per 1,000 residents (analyzed from NeighborhoodScout).

Good Morning San Diego invited Mayor Rebecca Jones to congratulate her on the town being named the best suburb in San Diego. Jones explained how San Marcos has relied on efficient crime prevention in coordination with local police has helped to limit crime in the city. She also emphasized the importance that San Marcos places on education, at the K-12 and college level.

Overall, Mayor Jones has done an excellent job at improving the City of San Marcos, making it one of the most successful and attractive areas in all of San Diego.
